What is Neighborhood Defense?

Neighborhood Defense is a tower defence game set in a suburban environment where your job is to protect the local streets from waves of encroaching enemies. The familiar neighbourhood setting gives the game a distinctive visual identity that sets it apart from fantasy or sci-fi tower defence games. Your tools are defensive structures placed along the attack routes, and your objective is to stop every wave of invaders before they reach the end of the path and damage your defences.

How to Play Neighborhood Defense

Select a tower type from your available options and place it beside the enemy attack path. Each tower attacks automatically when enemies enter its range, and you earn currency by successfully eliminating invaders. Spend this currency on additional towers or upgrades to existing ones between waves. The waves escalate in enemy count and durability, requiring you to continually improve your defensive setup. If enemies reach the end of the path, you lose lives - lose all your lives and the defence fails.

Tower Placement Strategy

The most critical skill in Neighborhood Defense is placement. A tower positioned at a bend in the enemy route covers enemies for longer than one placed on a straight section. Overlapping the attack ranges of multiple towers creates kill zones where enemies absorb concentrated fire from several directions simultaneously. Placing your most expensive and powerful towers in these convergence points, supported by cheaper utility towers along the approach, is a foundational strategic pattern that works across most waves.

Enemy Types and Wave Composition

Neighborhood Defense sends varied enemy compositions that stress-test different aspects of your defence. Slow, heavily armoured enemies soak damage that would eliminate three lightly armoured ones. Fast runners slip past towers before they complete a shot. Groups of weak enemies can overwhelm defences through sheer numbers even when individual units are fragile. Reading the incoming wave composition and identifying your defence's vulnerability to it - then spending resources to address that weakness before the wave arrives - is the key strategic habit the game builds.

Upgrade Priorities

When upgrading your towers, prioritise the ones in your most valuable positions - the corners, chokepoints, and coverage overlaps. An upgraded tower in an excellent position typically outperforms a new tower in an average one. Attack speed upgrades are generally more valuable than range upgrades in early waves, since enemies that survive longer in your kill zone are more dangerous than extending the zone slightly. Damage upgrades become increasingly important in later waves as enemy health pools grow.
